About Carmen Bengoechea

I have mainly developed my work as Manager of the Plan de Dinamización Turística in Haro, La Rioja (Tourism Revitalization Programme) and as Head of Customer Service in Vivanco (Briones). I also took part in the Tourism Revitalization Programme in Sonsierra-Briones and Calahorra, which gave me the opportunity to study and learn the whole process in depth in different areas of La Rioja.

In addition, I have worked on numerous projects, such as the structuring and implementation of the Ruta del Vino de la Rioja Alta (wine route), different clubs (Iberian Ham Route, Gastrohoteles, etc.) or cultural projects (Fundación para la Lengua Canstellana ). I have provided support and assistance to public and private promoters in the Grupo de Acción Local de la Rioja Alta for the implementation of tourism project.

I have also worked in the editorial team of technical documents for the strategic planning of projects such as the Plan del Grupo de Acción Local Rioja Alta, Agrupación Empresarial Innovadora de la Rioja Alta, Plan de Competitividad Turística Reserva de la Biosfera (Ocón) and Red de Senderos del Sistema Central, Senderia.

Additionally, I have also worked in tourism quality control. I am also Manager, Trainer, Advisor and Certified Evaluator of the Sistema Integral de Calidad Turística en Destinos (Integral System of Tourism Quality), a project for quality improvement in tourist destinations, promoted by the State Secretariat for Tourism, with the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.

Recently, I have been developing sustainable tourism projects: for example, I have been assisting in Cameros by contributing to the design and planning of the Tourism Sustainability Programme of the State Secretariat for Tourism. In the European framework of sustainable projects, I have provided assistance to the Government of La Rioja for a long-distance cycling tourism project such as Eurovelo 1, which links Norway to Portugal, for the development and green growth in Europe.

My involvement with the rural environment is constant, both in the public and private sectors. I have been part of the team responsible for the design of the Strategy against the demographic challenge and depopulation, for the Government of La Rioja, in addition to developing numerous projects for the private sector in rural areas.
